James Wallace has joined League One rivals Shrewsbury Town on-loan until the end of the season in a bid to gain regular first-team football.
The 24-year-old has seen his United career hampered by a number of muscular related injuries since joining the Club from Tranmere Rovers in June 2014.
This season Wallace has made seven appearances in all competitions, the last of which came as a substitute against Southend United in November. In total, the former Everton trainee has featured 20 times for the Blades.
Wallace becomes the third player to depart Bramall Lane in this transfer window after Craig Alcock joined Doncaster Rovers on a permanent basis and Marc McNulty extended his stay with Portsmouth until the end of the current campaign.
