Gaffer on Posh challenge

1 January 2016

Nigel Adkins is confident the Blades can begin 2016 where they left of in 2015, as the Blades prepare to host Peterborough United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The hosts enter the New Year on the back of four consecutive victories in December and despite acknowledging the 'challenge' Graham Westley's side will pose at the weekend, Adkins is upbeat about his side's prospects.

He commented: "The belief and togetherness has been there all season, but in recent weeks we have found a real consistency in our performances and thankfully the results have come too.

"We were excellent against against Bradford, dominant for long periods of the game against a good side and that must continue in the coming weeks and months.

"Saturday's challenge against Peterborough will be a total different test, but it is one we are looking forward to and focused on, because our immediate thought is always the next game, the next opportunity to get three points."

The Gaffer added: "We aren't where we want to be, because we want to be top of the league, but we are just outside the top six and we are very much in the mix.

"There is a lot of football to be played in 2016 and if we remain together and determined throughout then we will give ourselves the best possible chance of achieving our ultimate aim of promotion come the end of the season."
