Nigel Adkins says everyone connected with Sheffield United should be 'excited' ahead of Saturday's trip to Old Trafford.
And the Blades boss says the management and coaching staff will be urging the players to be positive against Louis van Gaal's Red Devils in the televised Emirates FA Cup third round tie.
Speaking at a hectic media gathering ahead of the clash, Adkins remarked: "It is FA Cup, we are going to Old Trafford to face Manchester United and it promises to be a terrific occasion.
"There is a genuine buzz around the Club and rightly so, we should be excited about the prospect of facing a team that is packed with world class players.
"We would be delighted with two of the possible three outcomes on the day and although Manchester United winning the game on Saturday is obviously the most likely outcome, we have a chance and if we believe we have a chance then who knows what might happen.
"We certainly aren't planning on going there and just sitting back and inviting pressure, of course they will have the majority of the possession, but let's see if we can hurt them and get a goal when we have the ball, that's our aim because we have goals in our team."
But the Gaffer is acutely aware of the factors needed if his side are to pull of a massive upset.
He added: "We are the underdogs, the odds are stacked against us and we know we will have to defend at our very best from the first minute to the last to give ourselves hope.
"Manchester United have players throughout their team that are capable of winning a game on their own, but if we are resolute and have a bit of luck on our side then stranger things have happened than us winning at Old Trafford or at least forcing a reply.
"Let's go there and do ourselves proud."
