Sheffield United's Bramall Stadium is set to feature more than 2,000 people in an inaugural 'Run The Stadium' event, setting a challenge to people at every level of fitness, as well as raising funds for The Children's Hospital in Sheffield.
Run The Stadium is a unique 'Big Stage' aspirational fund raising fitness based event, where participants set off from the start in very small groups; following a carefully designed course around a stadium, which includes a large number of steps, up and down between the stadium stands.
Differing levels of participation allows people of all levels of fitness to set an achievable goal of conquering the stadium, and to take part as a group or family.
'Run The Stadium' is a real opportunity for both fans of football and those that like to participate in different types of events.
"To run around the pitch and through the stands of a top football stadium is a truly unique experience," explained Dean O'Grady, Director of Run The Stadium event owner Onside Partners.
"As a non-competitive event (there are no trophies or plaudits for the fastest), Run The Stadium is all about personal goals and celebration; to achieve the feat of running the Bramall Lane stadium successfully, at your own pace, and taking home memories of the day."
All participants will receive a custom t-shirt; bespoke event medal and stadium posed photo as mementos, as well as having the opportunity to win raffle prizes throughout the day.
Sheffield United Operations Director Dave McCarthy said: "This is a great opportunity to be involved at Bramall Lane like never before. We are delighted to be involved in the event, providing help in supporting the Children's Hospital."
A considerable part of the Run The Stadium event will be focused on raising funds for the Physiotherapy Department of the new wing of the Children's Hospital in Sheffield. For the first 14 days of registration, all entries will be levied with; a £5 donation for a single person entry; a £10 donation for a family entry of 3 people. Registration for remaining places without a charity donation will be opened on 22nd August, subject to availability. Participants will be encouraged to raise additional funds for the Children's Hospital by gaining sponsors and additional donations.
