Chris Wilder has further bolstered his defensive options, with the loan signing of a Championship defender.
Ethan Ebanks-Landell joins the Blades on a season-long deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The versatile 23-year-old impressed at Molineux last season under Kenny Jackett, making 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
The West Bromwich-born operator, who has progressed through the ranks at Wolves, is primarily a centre-half, but can also operate in other positions across the backline.
Of the signing, boss Wilder, who has made no secret of his desire to add another central defender to the ranks, remarked: "Ethan is a defender in the mould that we like. He's a communicator and aggressive and has Championship experience.
"It has been widely reported that we have been after a right-sided central defender to add cover and competition and Ethan is another who has been on our radar for quite some time."
Ebanks-Landell, who has had previous loan spell at Bury, will be available for United in Sunday's EFL Sky Bet League one televised encounter at Gillingham.
He is United's 11th signing of the transfer window.
