United's U23s made it four points from two matches in the Professional Development League with a hard fought draw against Colchester United on Monday evening.
Following last week's 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town, Kieran Wallace, Louis Reed, Ben Whiteman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all completed 90 minutes, but it was goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale along with defenders Joe Cummings and Callum Semple who earnt a special mention from Academy Manager Travis Binnion.
Binnion remarked: "There was nothing in the game really, the lads worked hard and in the end a goalless draw was a fair result.
"It was good for some of the first-team squad members to get 90 minutes into their legs, whilst I thought Aaron and the two centre-backs were excellent against a decent side, who ended our long unbeaten run at the end of last season."
There were chances at both ends in an even first-half at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, with the U's have the best of them, but Bonne and Peter both failed to hit the target with free headers from left-wing corners.
For the Blades, Brooks shot wide from a Calvert-Lewin cut back, before United's number 9 saw his route to goal blocked by the retreating Wynter.
In the second half, the home side hit the crossbar on two occasions in quick succession. Firstly Garvan, then Brown saw their efforts cannon of the woodwork.
Colchester had several other half chances without really threatening to break United's resistance, whilst skipper Whiteman fired over late on, as the Blades had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Blades: Ramsdale, Charlesworth, K. Wallace, Reed, Cummings, Semple, Crofts (Gordon 54), Whiteman, Calvert-Lewin, Brooks (Hallam 69), K. Smith (Hall 81).
Unused: Perryman, Gilmour.
