Blades donate Community Shield monies

28 April 2016

Prior to last Saturday's fixture against Barnsley at Bramall Lane, the Blades made cheque presentations to two local charities.

The Club evenly donated the monies it receives from the Community Shield, that is played prior to the Premier League kicking-off, between the Premiership League champions and the FA Cup winners from the previous campaign.

The two charities were Actionaires, part of Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) and Sheffield Sports Commentaries. Both charities received cheques for £1,000 presented by Graham Moore, Sheffield United Vice-President and Chairman of Westfield Health.

The Actionaires is a group operated by 'Action for Blind People' and is a multi-sport club for visually impaired children and their siblings, based at Westfield Sports Centre.

Sheffield Sport Commentaries is a service that provides live commentary on all Blades games for our visually impaired supporters and also hospital patients.

Representatives from both groups also joined in the disabled pitch parade at half-time.
