Nigel Adkins insists the Blades will be 'positive' against Sky Bet League One leaders Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side currently head the division by three points, following Saturday's last-gasp victory at Chesterfield and whilst being respect of what the Brewers have achieved since promotion from League Two, Adkins wants his team to be assertive.
"We're going to the leaders but we will be positive," Adkins said.
"Burton did really well last year to be promoted and they've carried that momentum through with little disruption to their personnel and how they play.
"But we're creating lots of chances ourselves and that's something we'll be looking to do again, despite being away from home at the leaders."
And the Blades boss is hoping United can continue to build some momentum after returning to winning ways, with a deserved victory over Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.
He added: "We need the players to understand what is required of them and others within the team framework to help the overall dynamic of the group.
"We were pleased to get Paul (Coutts) back and Ryan (Flynn) too. They both did ever so well for us on Saturday and hopefully as a team we can build on the three points and look to close the gap between ourselves and the teams above us."
