Nigel Adkins believes the addition of experienced midfielder Dean Hammond will 'enhance' the Blades in the coming months.
Hammond 32, signed on-loan until January on Tuesday and subsequently made his debut against Fleetwood Town hours later.
Speaking of what the Leicester City loanee will add to his squad, Adkins remarked: "Dean will only get better and sharper with games, but we'll delighted to have him on board.
"He'll take time to adjust and get used to how we want to play and how his team-mates function round him.
"But we know everything about Dean Hammond, he has led a team from this division to promotion, he is a real team player, he is robust and has plied his trade in the top-flight."
When asked about the possibility of the Hammond being appointed skipper following his arrival at S2, the Gaffer responded by saying: "Chris Basham and Jay McEveley have captained the side this season, but Dean has captained Southampton, Brighton and Leicester, so he'll only enhance our leadership group.
"He'll certain have a say and be a big influence in the dressing room, we have said it since day one, we don't want to burden one player with the role of being the captain."
