Girl band add a little sparkle to fixture

10 October 2015

United are delighted to welcome the Sparkle Sistaz to the Lane for the fixture against Rochdale.

The girls will be out on the pitch at half-time to debut the song and video they have made about the Blades called 'At the Lane'. The video has racked up almost 4,000 hits on YouTube in just four days.

The Sparkle Sistaz are not your average band. They are an all girl band run by female musicians who formed in 2013 as part of the Under the Stars initiative. Under the Stars run nightclubs and music workshops for adults with learning disabilities.

The achievements of the band are incredible, ranging from small daily accomplishments like learning a new instrument, improving speech patterns, becoming a confident member of the group - to bigger successes such as raising £6,000 to support Under the Stars and performing at Tramlines Festival on the Peace Gardens stage.

Two of the girls, Bethan and Chaz, are huge Blades fans. They decided earlier this year that they wanted to write a song for their favourite team and got their band mates to help them.

They recorded the song at Red Tape Studios with the help of tutor Chris Morris and students on the Level 3 BTEC Music Course. We are sure you'll agree that the song is incredibly catchy, and you can tell by watching the video that they had a cracking time at the Club. Captain Blade was only too happy to help them bring their video to life!

The girls would love you to sing along during the chorus and more importantly watch the video again on YouTube when you get home. Every single YouTube hit brings a massive smile to the girls' faces, and we are sure the video will bring a smile to yours!

You can find the song on YouTube by searching 'At the Lane Sparkle Sistaz'. Please give the girls some positive feedback and share the video on your own social media networks if you can. The Sparkle Sistaz are Bethan, Naomi, Sophia, Dawn, Charlotte, Laura, Louise, Katie, Danielle and Lucy.
