Chris Morgan felt United's U21s were full value for Monday's 3-0 victory over Coventry City at Stocksbridge.
Speaking after a brace from second-half substitute Diego De Girolamo following CJ Hamilton's opener against the Sky Blues, Morgan praised the youngsters endeavour and application.
United's Development Coach commented: "We got the first goal at a good time just before half-time in a first-half that was affected by the windy conditions.
"But in the second-half we thoroughly deserved our two goals and the win, the lads were excellent again and it was also nice to keep a clean sheet against a Coventry side that offered a genuine threat going forward.
"The spine of the team was strong and all the lads put in a real shift, but Jake Wright up top has been a real handful all season and he set up Diego's first goal by chasing a lost cause."
Looking ahead to Thursday's cup clash against Leeds United at Bramall Lane, Morgan added: "We are on a good run at the moment, winning five from the last six.
"And as I have said previously it is always nice to get the chance to play at the Lane and it is a game we are really looking forward to."
Admission for the aforementioned fixture, which kicks off at 7pm is free for season ticket holders and U16s or £3 adults.
