There are several possible scenarios as the Sky Bet League One regular season draws to a close on Sunday, with the Blades still unsure of our play-off opponents.
Should the Blades avoid defeat against fellow play-off qualifiers Chesterfield, then United will face a two-legged semi-final tie against Swindon Town, with the first-leg being played at Bramall Lane on Thursday 7th May, kick-off 7.45pm, and the second-leg taking place at the County Ground on Monday 11th May, kick-off also 7.45pm.
If Chesterfield beat United on Sunday, then the Blades will finish sixth and play either MK Dons or Preston North End, whichever of the aforementioned teams misses out on automatic promotion, with the home tie still taking place on 7th May and the second-leg being played on Sunday 10th May, kick-off 12.15pm.
Preston are the favourites to finish second, the Lilywhites know win at Colchester, who themselves need three points to have a chance of staying up, will be enough to hold off the challenge of the MK Dons in the quest to join Bristol City in the Championship next term.
MK Dons, because of their superior goal difference know they simply have to better Preston's result at home to already-relegated Yeovil Town to pip the Lancastrians to second spot.
Please remember all League One fixtures on Sunday will kick-off at the same time of 12.15pm.
