Paul Coutts says the Blades are focused on getting the right results rather than looking for the plaudits as Nigel Clough's side look to cement a place in the Sky Bet League One play-offs.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday home clash with Scunthorpe United, the Blades game in hand on many of their rivals, Coutts says at the business end of the season it doesn't matter how you win the points.
The midfielder, signed from Derby County in January, said: "We are at the stage of the season where it is all about the points.
"The Gaffer keeps saying the same, obviously you want to play well and usually when you do you win games regularly, but to be honest we would take wins regardless of how they come or how we play at the moment.
"We know we need a few wins to make sure we finish in the top six and the next two home matches, on the back of Saturday's hard fought win over Port Vale are going to be important, we are certainly looking for maximum points and that will only strengthen our position."
But Coutts also acknowledged it won't be easy in midweek against the Iron, who need points themselves as they look to move away from the drop zone.
He added: "Whoever we play between now and the end of the season are going to be tough, because like us everyone needs points.
"Scunthorpe are no different, both them and Crewe are fighting at the other end of the table."
