Keep the Shred flag flying

5 March 2015

The Sky Bet League One game against Fleetwood Town on Saturday will give friends and fellow fans another opportunity to pay tribute to David Spencer, known to all as 'Shred', who sadly passed away last week.

The lower tier of the Bramall Lane stand will be left unoccupied and those wishing to do so will be able to bring a flag down and secure it there behind the goal.

Official Supporters' Club Secretary and Handsworth Blade John Cain has kindly agreed to act as the point of contact to organise things and you will be able to find him at 12.30pm outside Legends of the Lane, should you wish to be involved.

"We are aware that some fellow fans have had tributes made in honour of Shred," commented United's Supporters' Liaison Officer, John Garrett. "Our main tribute took place on Tuesday night, but we are honoured to give the opportunity to place flags behind the goal on Saturday."

It is asked that the content of the flags represents the spirit and support that 'Shred' stood for. Hopefully it will bring a colourful end to what has been a sad week for David's family, friends and the wider Sheffield United family, in which he played such a major part.

If you would like to give us notice that you would like to get involved in Saturday's tribute or for more information, drop John an email at john.garrett@sufc.co.uk
