Gaffer on Walsall trip

17 March 2015

Nigel Clough expects another tough game on the road when United face Walsall in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday evening.

But although he doesn't expect it to be the case, the Blades boss is hoping Dean Smith's side are already thinking about Sunday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Bristol City at Wembley.

Despite that pending encounter, Clough is preparing his players to meet a team determined to move up the table rather than having to look over their shoulders during the run-in.

Looking ahead, he remarked: "Walsall are always a side that can cause you problems, they are especially strong at home.

"I don't for one minute think they will, but we hope they have one eye on the weekend and their trip to Wembley.

"They are mid-table, but they have drawn a lot of games and that tells you they are resilient and difficult to beat.

"It looks like they are comfortable at the moment, but they will be conscience to chase the teams above them, rather than getting dragged down by losing games."
