United's U18s fought back from two goals down to earn a deserved point at Brentford.
After the hosts had scored twice in the opening 20 minutes, the game turned in the Blades favour when Brentford were reduced to ten-men on the hour mark following an off the ball incident and within ten minutes United were level thanks to goals from David Brooks and Shea Gordon.
The visitors were pressing for a winner thereafter, but that progress was halted when Ioan Evans saw red for a second yellow card late on.
Brentford, who were blessed with plenty of pace in offensive positions caught the Blades cold twice in the opening exchanges to put themselves in the ascendency, but as the first-half progressed United threatened a revival with Cockerline and Maw both coming close and Brooks shooting narrowly wide.
The second-half was a completely affair though, with the Blades dominating proceedings from start to finish. The cause was helped when a young Bee was dismissed on the hour and BROOKS pulled one back immediately after a fantastic run from Kelly.
Now on top and sensing an equaliser, GORDON duly obliged in the 70th minute shooting home from the edge of the box after a trademark run forward.
Cockerline then hit the crossbar with a delicate lob and United were pushing for a winner to complete a remarkable turnaround when Evans was given his marching orders in the final minutes.
The closing stages were open although neither side looked like snatching a winning goal.
