Blades co-chairman Kevin McCabe is backing new boss Nigel Adkins to be a long-term success at Bramall Lane.
McCabe felt Adkins's 'track record' of winning promotion from League One made him the ideal person to lead a promotion charge next season following the departure of Nigel Clough.
He said: "Nigel has accomplished so much as a manager since stepping into management at Scunthorpe United and he has a proven track record.
"Firstly he got Scunthorpe promoted to the Championship on two occasions and more recently he did a fantastic job at Southampton when they were in a similar position to the one we find ourselves in at the moment.
"He didn't just take Southampton to the second tier; he got them promotion to the top flight, so his CV says it all."
McCabe says the new boss shares the same vision as the owners and continued:
"He is a person with terrific life experience in and out of football too and he has the ability to get the best out of his players and staff.
"We interviewed some very good candidates, but what we really wanted and liked in Nigel, was the fact that he has done it, particularly in this division, that's crucial.
"Nigel is the best qualified person out there to take us to the Championship and beyond, he has done it twice before at different clubs in terms of stature, so that was another major positive.
"I don't think Nigel would have joined the Blades if he didn't believe in the long-term ambitions of the Club. It is a place that has all the facilities and infrastructure to be competing in the top-flight.
"He is an excellent fit for the Club and hopefully we are likewise for him as a manager."
