Nigel Adkins was understandably delighted with the performance of his team as the pre-season preparations continued on Sunday.
After victories over Ilkeston, Cheltenham Town and Exeter City, the Blades faced Premiership Newcastle United in Chris Morgan's testimonial fixture.
More than 12,000 supporters were inside Bramall Lane to see United twice hit back to record a 2-2 draw, with Marc McNulty and Kieron Freeman on target.
"We've still got a couple of weeks to go before we kick off the league season, but the players have been superb," said Adkins as he reviewed the performance. "We have played Premiership opposition in our first game at Bramall Lane and it was an excellent game for us.
"We had a great defensive shape, put ourselves in positions where we want to go forward, have created some good opportunities and scored good goals.
"There is still a lot of work to do, we are building for a whole season but the application and attitude has been spot on so far in all of the games. It was another good progressive performance and you have to take into account the standard of the opposition."
