United's U18s slipped to defeat against an in-form Nottingham Forest side, who made it five wins on the bounce with this victory at a blustery Nigel Doughty Academy.
Tyler Walker and Kasheme Walton scored the goals for the home side, who finished the game with ten-men after Andreas Karo was red carded with 16 minutes remaining.
It was Forest who had the first sight of goal as Walton headed powerfully towards goal from Kelly's corner, but Ramsdale was at his best to produce a fine instinctive save.
Ramsdale was again exposed moments later, but Walker ballooned his effort over the bar from close range with the goal at his mercy.
Karo came close with a header on the half hour as the hosts dominated and they duly took the lead in the 33rd minute, with
WALKER lashing the ball home with his left foot from 25 yards.
The goalscorer and Walton both had chances to extend Forest's lead before the break but United held on to go in just a goal behind.
The Reds made changes at half-time and kicking against the win in the second-half United's youngsters found it tough to break the home defence down, although Slew fired just over from long range, before Gordon's effort trickled wide from a good position.
But United were given hope in the 74th minute as Slew was cynically brought down by Karo and the referee had no hesitation in brandishing a straight red to the Cypriot defender.
Despite the one man advantage United still found goalscoring opportunities at a premium and Forest made the game safe with nine minutes remaining, WALTON finishing confidently after Cash had challenged for the ball in the area.
