Goalkeeper George Long has joined Scottish Premiership side Motherwell on-loan until the end of May.
With Mark Howard in possession of the number one spot at Bramall Lane to date this season, boss Nigel Clough has always emphasised the importance of getting the 21-year-old stopper playing regular first-team football, with Iain Turner providing competition for Howard.
England U21 international Long, who made his United debut against Swansea City at the end of the 2010/11 season as a 17-year-old, had a loan spell with Oxford United during the first-half of the season, making 11 starts for the U's.
"Hopefully this will prove to be a good move for George," said Blades chief Clough. "We've consistently said that he would benefit from playing on a regular basis and we hope this will be the case at Motherwell."
Long could make his 'Well debut against Ross County on Saturday.
