Sheffield United's U14s will face Liverpool in the final of the Blades Cup later this month.
Worksop Town's Sandy Lane will host the contest against the Reds on Thursday 10th December, kick-off 7.30pm.
The Blades Cup is a tournament that the staff at the Club's SteelPhalt Academy have put together to try and add some competitive football matches to the existing programme.
It has involved United, Birmingham City, Derby County and Liverpool with the format replicating a Champions League semi-final with the teams playing each other over two legs at local non-league grounds (Worksop Town and Ossett Albion) with the ties played under floodlights with the away goal rule applying where necessary.
The tournament has been run at three age groups, U14, U15 and U16 and it's the Blades U14s who have impressed.
In a thrilling tie against Birmingham City, United drew the 'away' leg 4-4, scoring with the last kick of the game from a corner, before the 'home' leg ended in a 3-3 stalemate, sending the hosts through on away goals.
Coach Ashley Foyle remarked: "It has given our players valuable experience of competitive football where results and even a goal matters. We have seen what our lads are made and it has taught them about the pressure of playing knockout football.
"We treat the competition seriously; we only make substitutions based on the state of the game rather than giving everyone a game.
"It is important the lads can handle the pressure and also deal with not being selected or being taken off in big games, it has been very beneficial for building the character of the youngsters."
The Academy staff would be delighted if any Blades fans are able to attend the final later this month and cheers the boys on against their Premiership opponents.
