Bolton 0-1 U21s - report

15 December 2015

United's U21s made it six league games unbeaten with a hard fought victory over Bolton Wanderers at Leyland, home of the Lancashire FA, on Monday night.

A header from midfielder David Brooks six minutes from time settled the contest in the Blades favour, after Ben Whiteman had earlier hit the inside of the post.

But Brooks struck with time running out to make it four wins in the aforementioned run and a fourth clean sheet in the same sequence.

After a delayed kick-off owning to traffic problems for United, Woolery thought he had put the Trotters in front in the 16th minute, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Willis.

United hit back towards the end of the first-half, creating a number of half chances, most notably Dimaio coming close with an effort that had to be cleared off the line.

The second-half ebbed and flowed and it was always the visitors who appeared to have the upper hand. Whiteman struck the post it a free-kick, but in the 84th minute BROOKS nodded home from close-range to ensure the points returned with the visitors back over the Pennines.

Blades: Willis, Phillips, Brown, Whiteman, Banton, Evans, Heh (De Girolamo 61), Dimaio, Wright (Cockerline 73) Brooks, Coustrain.
Unused: Perryman, Adebowale.‚Äč
