Nigel Adkins is looking forward to rounding off United's pre-season campaign against Hull City on Sunday and admits there is a genuine excitement around the Club, prior to the forthcoming Sky Bet League One season.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Steve Bruce's Tigers at Bramall Lane, kick-off 3pm, the Blades boss remarked: "The season is edging ever nearer and everyone is excited and rightly so.
"We are looking forward to getting the league season underway, but first and foremost we have a good game to look forward to against Hull City at Bramall Lane and it promises to be a test for us.
"Hull will be looking for a good start in the Championship after relegation from the top-flight, so like every game has been it will be a beneficial fixture for us, likewise it will be for them too.
"But regardless of the result on Sunday, we are in a good position ahead of the start of the season and that is when it really counts."
Adkins revealed he has been pleased with United's attacking play in the friendlies to date and is hoping his players quickly find a high level of consistency at both ends of the field once the competition action gets underway.
He added: "We have scored goals in pre-season and that is pleasing, we have individuals who can score goals from different areas and you can never have too many goalscorers in your squad.
"It is a simple game really, you need to score goals at one end and keep clean sheets at the other and if you can do that regularly then you will win a lot of games, that's our aim."
In terms of team news for Sunday, Matt Done (collarbone) and Jamal Campbell-Ryce (hamstring) are both sidelined after picking up knocks in midweek, but striker Billy Sharp is expected to make his third United 'bow' against City.
