Mark Howard is backing the Blades to show their 'big game' mentality when the month of May kicks off later this week.
Speaking after United secured their spot in the Sky Bet League One play-offs, with the first-leg to be played at Bramall Lane on Thursday 7th May, the stopper thinks the cup tie feel of the matches will give the Blades a potential advantage over their rivals.
He remarked: "We have proved in cup matches both this season and last that we are capable of producing the big performance in the big games, so hopefully we will do the same in the play-offs.
"It is always said that they are a bit of a lottery and that is probably true, but if we get that bit of luck along the way then there is no reason why we shouldn't be fancying our chances."
Howard believes the Blades have enough offensively to cause opposition defences problems, but acknowledges Nigel Clough's side need to improve defensively as the business of the campaign draws ever nearer.
The goalkeeper added: "We are always capable of scoring goals, there aren't many matches when we don't create chances and we have several players like Jason Holt, Matt Done and Steven Davies in good form in front of goal, so that isn't a worry.
"But we have conceded some poor goals of late and I have to hold my hands up for a couple, so if we can tighten up at the back and continue to look threatening going forward then we will give ourselves a very good chance of being successful."
