Young Blades go international

5 September 2014

Several of United's next generation are currently away representing their countries during the current international break.

U18s skipper Ioan Evans completed 90 minutes as Wales U19 beat Montenegro 2-1 on Thursday.

It was the defender's first cap at that level, having previously earnt recognition in the U16 and U17 age groups on a regular basis.

Jamie McDonagh played an hour in Northern Ireland U19s 2-2 draw against Iceland on Tuesday and the forward will be hoping to feature on Friday night in a repeat of the fixture.

Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland duo Connor Dimaio and Joel Coustrain have linked up with their U19 international team-mates ahead of Monday's clash with Holland.

Finally, Shea Gordon has been selected to represent Northern Ireland U17s in a forthcoming UEFA Championship qualifying round tournament in Slovenia later this month.

It is also expected that Shea will captain his country if selected to play.
