A second half hat-trick from Diego De Girolamo helped United's U21s to a first league win of the season.
The young Blades striker netted all three from close range as Brentford were overwhelmed in the second period.
At Shirecliffe on Monday afternoon, the Blades were good value for the victory, with De Girolamo going close as early as the second minute.
With Berry looking assured in a solid back four in front of the experienced Turner in goal, the Blades dominated the first half, creating a number of half-chances before taking the lead after 34 minutes when WHITEMAN scored direct from a corner with visiting goalkeeper Tzanev struggling.
McDonagh and De Girolamo went close but Brentford levelled with their first effort of the second period, on 61 minutes, when ADAMS was given time to cut in from the right and net with a low drive, via the far post.
Parity lasted just seven minutes, however, as the Blades went back in front. A tremendous run by Paling on the right ended with a pin-point cross and DE GIROLAMO sidefooted home.
On 74 minutes, Dimaio's delivery into the box caused confusion and a header from Morris forced goalkeeper Tzanev to scamper back but he could only divert the ball into the path of DE GIROLAMO, who accepted the gift and slotted home.
The scoring was complete on 81 minutes, with DE GIROLAMO taking the plaudits - he tapped home again, this time after Tzanev could only parry Whiteman's 20 yard shot.
United were good value for the victory, the scoreline a reflection of the dominance for Chris Morgan's team, whilst Nigel Clough was again an interested spectator at the development league fixture.
