Jay McEveley says his best form is yet to come, although he is satisfied with his start to life as a Blade.
The versatile defender who signed an initial deal until the end of the season in mid August was thrust straight into the thick of the action prior to the recent international break, despite not having a club during pre-season.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's home fixture with Rochdale, the former Derby man remarked: "I feel refreshed and raring to go after a much needed rest last weekend.
"I am delighted to have been playing as much as I have since arriving, but it all did come quicker than I expected and I was starting to feel the pace having not had a proper pre-season.
"But I have felt relatively comfortable in games; it has been such an easy place to walk into because there is a fantastic group of lads here and some talented players too."
Looking at the weekend's action, McEveley added: "We are excited about returning to action at home prior to a long week on the road, with three away games in succession.
"Rochdale have had a decent start and have scored a lot of goals, especially of late, so we know we will have to be aggressive and get on the front foot from the first whistle.
"If we can get to grips with the game early then hopefully our quality will shine through as the match progresses."
