Gaffer on Gills test

26 September 2014

Nigel Clough expects Gillingham to be a tough nut to crack at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The Blades boss believes Peter Taylor's side will be hard to beat, but Clough is optimistic his players can replicate recent home victories over Crawley Town and Rochdale.

Speaking ahead of the weekend's clash, Clough remarked: "Gillingham have done well in recent matches, they perhaps haven't got what they deserve in terms of a points return, but they will certainly make life difficult for us.

"They are unbeaten in three, beating Peterborough at home before being held by Walsall when by all accounts they should have won at Priestfield.

"Previous to that they drew at Oldham, so like with Crawley and Rochdale we might have to be patient, but hopefully we can start as we did at Leyton Orient, if we do that it makes it a totally different game for both teams."

The Gaffer added: "We saw on Tuesday that we are a good team when we do the basics properly, we want to build on that, but if we keep things tight defensively we are confident of scoring at the other end."
