Charitable Blade Runners set for 10k

18 September 2014

Sky Sports News presenter and lifelong Blade Charlie Webster will captain the 'Blade Runners' in the 10K Great Yorkshire Run later this month.

Charlie and her guests will be joined by several members of United's Academy staff, including a couple of scholars, for the event which takes place on Sunday 28th September.

And we are hoping Unitedites can give the Blade Runners their back by supporting Charlie's chosen charity, Roundabout.

Roundabout is a Sheffield-based youth housing charity, providing shelter, support and life skills to young people. The charity also provides emergency accommodation for homeless young people across the city, helping 150 youngsters a day, although it has to turn away many more because it is full.

The Blade Runners, accompanying Charlie Webster, are Academy staff members Nick Cox, Luke Smith, Ed Owen, John Dungworth, Travis Binnion, Ash Foyle, Alex Delves, Luke Jenkinson, Emily Cain, Mark Pease, George Delves and Chris Bradley, as well as scholars Danny Ramsey and Aaron Ramsdale.

Charlie commented: "I was born and raised in Sheffield and I'm a lifelong Blades fan, so when I was asked to join the team of Blade Runners for the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run I couldn't refuse," said Charlie, who is running the event for the first time.

United's Nick Cox added: "It is primarily Academy staff taking part and we are delighted that Charlie will be part of our team... although a few of us may struggle to keep up with her!"
