Home comforts for Ben

10 October 2014

Ben Davies is urging the Blades to continue to make Bramall Lane a 'fortress', ahead of Saturday's clash with Leyton Orient.

The versatile operator, who skippered United in the midweek JPT success at Hartlepool, acknowledges the excellent recent home form must continue in the weeks and months to come.

Speaking ahead of welcoming Kevin Nugent O's, who are unbeaten on the road this season, to South Yorkshire, Davies remarked:

"We have performed well at home and although we have had to be patient in all our games and have won by the odd goal on each occasion we are racking up the points, we have won four on the bounce including the Capital One Cup win against Mansfield.

"But we are putting ourselves under pressure because of our away form, so as we try and sort that out it is crucial we strive to keep Bramall Lane as a fortress and it should be.

"We are the only Club in this division that gets touching 20,000 for every home game and we have to utilise home advantage consistently, thankfully to date we have, but it must continue."

The former Notts County and Derby County man was pleased to see Jose Baxter return to action at Victoria Park on Tuesday after overcoming a hamstring complaint quicker than originally expected, Davies added:

"Jose is a match winner, probably one of two or three we are fortunate enough to have at our disposal, so his return gave the whole squad a massive lift.

"He is capable of producing something from nothing and he has proved that on a number of occasions this season already."
