SUFC Co-Chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Through its owners, directors, vice-presidents, sponsors, management team and supporters, the Club enjoys a wealth of international footballing and business contacts, which if properly organised, can yield great benefit for the Club."

Mr McCabe added: "In this new role, Mr Baki will ensure that the Club gets the full benefit of all of its many international relationships and alliances and that we build new relationships and make new friends in the world of football. Since I have come to know Selahattin, I can say this, he's a Blade and he's a Blade."

SUFC Co-Chairman Jim Phipps said: "As a board, we've asked Selahattin to help the Club identify to management international football talent opportunities and to bring in international sponsorships. This is an extension of his service on the Board of Directors. Selahattin is a doer - he gets things done - and I'm confident he will bring not only acumen and a wealth of relationships and creativity to the challenge, but also that spark that lights fires and gets things going."

SUFC Managing Director, Malachy Brannigan, added: "We're delighted to have the benefit of Selahattin's energy and efforts. At Sheffield United, we have a great team both on and off the pitch and Selahattin is already a proven contributor to the team."

Mr Baki, who joined the Board of Directors in September 2013, when His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud joined the Club, is a Turkish business executive and has been associated with Prince Abdullah and his business holdings for more than a decade.

He commented: "I am truly honoured to be given this huge task in such a history like Sheffield United. Actions speak louder than words, I will give SUFC all of my time and I am confident we will get things done with our board and management as a team."
