Blades boss Nigel Clough says striker Diego De Girolamo is in his plans to feature in the forthcoming FA Cup tie and Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash against Crewe Alexandra and Walsall respectively.
The Italian youth international has recently enjoyed a successful loan stint in League Two with York City and despite admitting De Girolamo could rejoin Russ Wilcox's side to further his development, Clough says the could be utilised in cup action for the Blades in the immediate future.
The Gaffer remarked: "Diego has returned from his loan at York City and comes back full of confidence after scoring three goals in his last four appearances.
"That's why we sent him out in the first place and in the first month or so it has worked really well, logically we hope he can return to York, but for the next week or so he could be involved here.
"He wouldn't have been given permission to play in the FA Cup anywhere, so he will possible be in our thinking at the weekend and for the JPT tie at Walsall next week.
"Providing we get players into the squad, we would like to see Diego go back out on-loan to get more experience and more regular first-team football."
