Gaffer hopeful about striking duo

25 November 2014

Nigel Clough is hopeful of having Marc McNulty and Michael Higdon available for Friday's clash with Notts County.

The striking duo returned to training on Monday, with McNulty wearing a protective mask following a facial injury.

Despite the possibility of the pair featuring against Shaun Derry's Magpies, Clough has refused to end his search for a loan striker.

The Gaffer remarked: "Hopefully Higdon and McNulty will be fit enough to be in contention for Friday , but we still hope to do business with a striker, although it isn't as pressing now they are approaching a return."

Looking back at the weekend's stalemate with Oldham Athletic, Clough concluded by saying: "Chris Basham was our best player on the day, he worked tirelessly, looked to drive into the box and offered us a spark in the second-half, he was excellent.

"Let's keep things in perspective, we are six points of top of the league with a game in hand, despite a disappointing performance."
