Less mileage this season

28 May 2014

Unitedites will be travelling fewer miles watching Nigel Clough's Blades on the road in Sky Bet League One next season.

The arrival of Barnsley, Chesterfield and Doncaster into the third tier have helped reduced the total number of miles United supporters will cover next term by just under 500.

Long trips to Crawley and Gillingham still await Clough and co, but the longest trip in 2014/15 will be the Blades fixture against Yeovil Town at Huish Park after the Glovers were relegated from the Championship. From Bramall Lane it is a round trip of 469 miles.

There will also be one new ground for Blades fans to tick off next season, following Fleetwood Town's promotion from League Two. Former Blades defender Chris Lucketti is assistant manager to Graham Alexander at Highbury.
