Nigel Clough is delighted that the Blades have broken a Club record.
Monday night's shut-out at Preston North End was United's eighth successive clean sheet - breaking a record of seven set in the 1970-71 campaign.
John Hope was the goalkeeper in the 70s and Mark Howard is now taking the plaudits.
Clough commented: "Mark has had an incredible few weeks and to break the record is great testimony to him.
"It is lovely achievement for all concerned. The Club has been going 125 years and we have just broken a magnificent record, the players should feel extremely proud.
"We are disappointed that the run of wins has come to an end but in the circumstances, to get a point and a clean sheet at Preston was a great result."
Additionally, Howard and the Blades have conceded just one goal in the last 11 matches.
