Nigel Clough was delighted to see a much changed team make it eight wins on the bounce in all competitions on Tuesday evening.
Speaking after the deserved 2-0 success over Peterborough United at Bramall Lane, Clough, who made six changes to his starting line-up to face the Posh, remarked:
"It was an immensely pleasing win and a very good performance given the changes we had to make and the players we were missing through injury.
"The lads who come in were excellent and it is brilliant to get another points and keep our run going ahead of Sunday.
"Peterborough had a lot of possession, but we didn't want to change the formation on the night, that's why a few lads were forced to play slightly out of position.
"The majority of the changes were enforced, we had three injuries (Brayford, Murphy and Maguire), whilst the likes Scougall, Baxter, Harris and Flynn needed a rest after putting in a real shift at the weekend."
The Blades boss added: "Coming into a winning side helps the lads and it was important we kept the spine of the side strong because those lads bring a lot of experience too. Neill Collins has been superb of late, whilst Michael Doyle and Conor Coady have a tremendous understanding in the middle of the park.
"We have a belief at both ends of the field, we don't look like conceding defensively and at the other end we look like scoring when we go forward.
"We are now in a great position in the league table, we are almost there now in terms of survival, it is nice to be looking up not down for the first time since we arrived."
