Home comforts for Clough

21 March 2014

"Home form is crucial. Going forward, it will determine our success," said Nigel Clough in the build up to Saturday's special encounter with table-toppers Wolves.

The game, of course, is United's 125th birthday and Clough has already indicated that he would like to celebrate with a win.

The Blades have won six consecutive games at Bramall Lane but Clough knows it will be difficult against Kenny Jackett's promotion favourites.

United's chief commented: "It's a strange league, we know that. We went from second bottom to halfway up in the space of 14 days so anything could happen.

"Our home forward has been terrific recently and we hope it continues, winning at Bramall Lane will go a long way to determining where we will finish in the final table.

"One more win gets us over 50 points, we were looking towards April to get that so to achieve this in mid March is amazing."

Clough added: "We understand the challenge that Wolves will present us. Kenny (Jackett) has gone in there with his experience and done a great job. They are a big club in this division and everyone wants their scalp, it is similar with us, but they have coped admirably and are top on merit.

"But we are at home, we've been impressive at home of late and will be positive. We want to use the big crowd to our advantage because we know Wolves need points for differing reasons."
