James Wallace is looking forward to starting life at Bramall Lane and says United's ambition means his sights are set firmly on promotion to the Championship.
The former Tranmere Rovers skipper completed a move to South Yorkshire earlier this month after the Blades agreed to pay the Prenton Park club an undisclosed fee for the 22-year-old.
Now, fresh from signing a three-year deal, the midfielder is confident of rediscovering his best form under the management of Nigel Clough.
He remarked: "I wish pre-season could have started the moment I signed.
"I am excited to have been given this opportunity to play for a Club the size of Sheffield United and once I spoke to the manager I knew I needed to make the move as soon as possible.
"The Gaffer is highly regarded for what he has achieved in his management career and also enjoyed a tremendous playing career too.
"The aim is obviously automatic promotion and I am determined to play a big part in helping to achieve that. This is a Club that should be in the next division up at least, once we get there who knows what could happen."
