Nigel Clough is delighted to have finally secured the signature of versatile defender Craig Alcock.
Alcock, someone the Blades boss has been aware of for a number of seasons, penned a two-year deal with the Blades on Tuesday following his release by Peterborough United at the end of the season and Clough says the signing of the 26-year-old was a priority.
The Gaffer remarked: "Craig is someone we have monitored and liked from playing Yeovil Town in a pre-season friendly during our time at Derby.
"He ticked all the boxes for us. Experienced in the Championship and League One, he can play anywhere across the back four and was available on a free at a good age.
"He is a great character and I am delighted we have managed to secure his services for the next two years, he will compliment what we already have within the squad.
"He was ready for a fresh challenge and we are delighted he chose us. We were short of defenders at the start of the summer, but we now have two out and out full-backs, with Ben Davies able to cover and we are strong centrally."
