Nigel Clough was encouraged with the Blades performance, after watching United record their first win of pre-season on Friday night.
Goals from Jamie Murphy, Chris Basham, Jose Baxter and Marc McNulty at Bramall Lane, saw Clough's side deservedly beat Dundee, who early in pre-season defeated Manchester City.
The Blades boss remarked: "We are progressing nicely, we are looking stronger and fitting with each game and our play is improving.
"The substitutions were all planned and timed for between 60-80 minutes, we will look at getting more lads 90 minutes in the games against Huddersfield and Fenerbahce, but the pleasing thing was we came through unscathed.
"It was nice to get some of the new players a taste and feel for Bramall Lane. We played with more pattern and we played in a shape that we will look to build on.
The Gaffer concluded by explaining why Harry Maguire didn't feature against the SPL outfit.
Clough added: "Nothing has changed with regards the future of Harry Maguire. We have a reasonable valuation on him and it hasn't been reached.
"The reason he didn't feature against Dundee was because he felt unwell.
"It is hard to believe but he spent too much time in the sun on Thursday afternoon and it wasn't worth risking him."
