Home comforts for Clough

23 July 2014

Nigel Clough is looking forward to kicking off the first of three consecutive home pre-season friendlies, when the Blades welcome SPL newcomers Dundee on Friday night, kick-off 7pm.

United, who next week host Huddersfield Town, followed by Turkish champions Fenerbahce, have lost one and drawn one of their two pre-season games to date, but Clough is excited about bedding in his summer recruits at Bramall Lane.

The Gaffer remarked: "We now have three on the spin on home soil and it will be nice to play in front of our own supporters.

"We want to get the new lads used to the surroundings, so they are used to being at 'home' prior to the Bristol City game."

James Wallace continues to be sidelined, but Clough is hoping the likes of Neill Collins, Ryan Flynn, Jamie Murphy are all fit to play some part, whilst another summer addition could sample his first match action if he shakes off a back compliant.

The Blades boss added: "Marc McNulty should be available on Friday, but we still need a couple of more options in the attacking department.

"Hopefully we get a few of the lads who missed out at Northampton in contention to feature against Dundee."
