Blades boss Nigel Clough hopes to have Ryan Flynn (hamstring) and Marc McNulty (back) available for Tuesday's friendly encounter against Northampton Town at Sixfields, kick-off 7.45pm
Speaking after Saturday's disappointing 4-0 loss at Burton Albion, the Gaffer revealed the Scottish duo missed the fixture at the Pirelli Stadium as a precaution following niggles picked up in training, but suggested both would feature against the Cobblers.
Clough remarked: "There's nothing to be gained from taking risks with people now.
"We'd rather them miss a game or two now than four or five when the season proper gets underway.
"Hopefully Ryan and Marc should get some action at Northampton on Tuesday.
One man that won't feature against Chris Wilder's League Two outfit is midfielder James Wallace, who continues to try shake off a couple of niggling complaints associated to an injury picked last season whilst still with Tranmere Rovers.
The Gaffer added: "James will be missing again on Tuesday, but there isn't anything serious to worry about.
"He had a few knocks last season and because we have been working so hard since returning it is probably just a bit of a hangover from that."
Tickets will be available (cash only) from the turnstile on the evening of the game.
