Blades are Burton bound

18 July 2014

Nigel Clough is looking for a positive opening pre-season performance in United's first outing of the summer at Burton Albion on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

The Blades boss has revealed he will give all available some game time at the Pirelli Stadium, insisting the priority will be performance not result against the Brewers.

Looking ahead, Clough, a former Burton Albion manager, remarked: "We will change the team at half-time, so everyone gets a good 45 minutes into their legs.

"Results don't particularly matter in pre-season, especially at this stage.

"We just want to see some pattern to our play, avoid injuries and get the players fit and sharp.

"Everything we are doing behind the scenes and during friendly matches is getting the lads ready for the first day of the season against Bristol City."
