Transfer window update

30 January 2014

Nigel Clough insists the Blades won't panic buy ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

The Blades boss, who added Stefan Scougall, John Brayford and Bob Harris to his squad last week, says he has clear targets and won't recruit for the sake of things, with the loan window re-opening next month.

Clough remarked: "We are still looking, but we aren't desperate. The loan window opens again on 7th February and you can take players for 93 days from then.

"We have made one or two enquiries but unless it is the right player we won't do any business. We have Billy Paynter available for matches, so he comes back into contention for the weekend."

Meanwhile, Clough hinted at loan spells for a couple of his youngsters: "Elliott (Whitehouse) and Callum (McFadzean) might go back out on-loan, but we need to make sure we are free of injuries first."
