Skipper on cup clash

24 January 2014

Michael Doyle hopes the Bramall Lane factor will work in United's favour against Fulham on Sunday.

Following the Blades' shock third round win at Villa Park, expectations amongst the supporters and in the local and national media have risen, with some tipping the Blades to inflict the same punishment on the Cottagers, but although Doyle insists confidence is high, he believes the visitors will start as favourites.

The skipper remarked: "After causing a massive shock in the last round, people are perhaps thinking we will just turn up and do the same to Fulham, but it certainly won't be that like.

"They are a top-flight team and although they are towards the bottom of the Premiership, they have a squad packed with talent.

"Whether they play their strongest side or rest players with the league in mind, they will still name a team capable of winning the game, but we will be giving it our all to spring another surprise."

Doyle continued: "Hopefully we can put a real performance on for our supporters; it is the least they deserve for their backing through some tough times this season so far.

"A good start will be imperative to our chances of winning the game and who knows how Fulham will react if we get our noses in front and the fans out of their seats."
