Michael Doyle believes the FA Cup win at Aston Villa was just rewards for United's loyal supporters, in particular the 5,940 inside Villa Park on Saturday.
Goals from Jamie Murphy and Ryan Flynn secured United a fourth round berth, with the Blades now scheduled to face the winners of a replay between Norwich City and Fulham at Bramall Lane later this month.
Looking back, the skipper remarked: "Our fans were unbelievable at Villa. I haven't known them be anything different, though, and we have had some dark days.
"But days like Saturday at grounds like Villa Park are unforgettable moments and the lads said in the dressing room afterwards that we should dedicate the win to the fans.
"They haven't had much to cheer in recent seasons, so you expect them to voice their disapproval, but expectation is something you have to handle playing for Sheffield United and the Gaffer is addressing that amongst the squad.
"Let's hope we can all enjoy more days like Saturday. It should give everyone connected with the club such a lift and for the players it has to act as a major incentive for the remainder of the season."
