John Brayford's debut performance against Fulham probably exceeded the expectations of many, including boss Nigel Clough.
Brayford, who last played competitively for Cardiff City in September 2013 prior to Sunday's FA Cup tie, got through 90 minutes and impressed with an energetic, gutsy display.
The efforts of the loanee drew praise from the Gaffer, who remarked: "We got more out of John Brayford than anyone could have expected, given he hasn't played much at all this season.
"That is why he was never a straight replacement for Tony McMahon. Blackpool came in and made the offer and we really wanted Bob Harris so we did the deal - the chance to play in the Championship was a good offer to Tony.
"We were slightly concerned about John having to play 20 odd games on the bounce, but after Sunday those fears have been eased.
"It was an exceptionally good debut, full of character and desire which John has in abundance."
