Full value, says Flynn

6 January 2014

Ryan Flynn felt the Blades were full value for the FA Cup shock at Villa Park on Saturday.

Speaking in the aftermath of the 2-1 win over Premier League opposition, United's matchwinner admits the decisive moment, nine minutes from time, is still very much at the forefront of his mind.

He said: "The moment the ball hit the back of the net was a great feeling and one I will never forget.

"It was extra special that it came in front of our own supporters, but it wasn't just the result that pleased me, it was the whole performance.

"Even in the second-half, despite leading, we pushed on for another goal and I always thought we could get a second.

"We created a lot of chances and probably on another day we could have won by more, although it doesn't really matter."

The diminutive Scotsman added: "We worked so hard and we got our just rewards in the end. We perhaps caught Villa cold, but we certainly rose to the occasion and that is what the FA Cup is about.

"I thought I was fouled in the build up to the goal, but once I got a yard of space I knew I had to get a shot off.

"I got a clean strike on the ball and knew from the moment it left my boot it was destined to hit the back of the net.

"The win will spur us on, that is for sure, but we have to make sure we don't take our eyes off the ball at Notts County on Saturday."
