Forest win earns accolade for Blades

20 February 2014

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Sheffield United.

The award is in recognition of United's excellent 3-1 home win against Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the FA Cup with Budweiser.

United manager Nigel Clough will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award.

It is second time this season the Blades have won the award - the first came for the FA Cup victory at Aston Villa.

The Blades became the lowest-ranked side to reach the last eight of the competition since 1990 when goals from Conor Coady and Chris Porter helped secure the 3-1 victory over Forest.

After the match, Clough was delighted with the result and said: "The atmosphere was special today, 25,000 in Bramall Lane - I don't know when that last happened."
