Boss delighted at Davies capture

21 February 2014

Nigel Clough has expressed his delight at recruiting Derby County's Ben Davies on-loan for the remainder of the season.

The 32-year-old operator, who made his debut as a second-half substitute in Wednesday's 1-0 success over Gillingham at Priestfield, is someone the Blades boss and his staff know well from their time together at Pride Park.

Clough is confident in what Davies will add to the squad in the months ahead.

The Gaffer remarked: "Ben is an excellent professional. He's experienced and someone we know well, which means we won't have to spend weeks getting him up to speed, that is vital in our situation.

"He can operate in a variety of different positions and his dead ball delivery is as good as anything in the division.

"Like everyone in the squad, he will have a big part to play between now and the end of the season and we are sure he will make a positive impact."
